It is one of the many strategies being implemented for child safety. Reception and classrooms will be open from 8.30am until 4.00pm only. Before and after these times, access can only be gained through the use of a staff fob.

In this movement program students receive information primarily through visual, auditory, tactile, vestibular and kinesthetic senses. The students complete 6-7 activities in a 25 minute program. The House captains in Yr 6 and other senior students in the school assist the teachers whilst the students participate in the confident building activities. Please see the photos attached of the students participating in yesterday’s program of PMP.
Achievement Program - Stacey Podmore
Stacey Podmore who has worked as a Senior Health Promotion Officer at Latrobe Community Health and has worked with a number of staff at St Gabriel’s over the last few years in helping our school complete the “Healthy Schools Achievement Program”. The Healthy Schools Program is centred around 7 key health areas which include: healthy eating, physical activity, mental health and well-being, sun protection and safe environments. Each health area has a set of targets to achieve, resulting in health changes to your school’s physical environment, policies and practices and health promotion activities. I would like to thank Stacey for her support and encouragement in helping St Gabriel’s become a Healthier and Achieving school.

UPDATED COVID INFORMATION
As mentioned in previous newsletters, St Gabriel's recently had a visit from Infection Control Nurses that are part of the IPCON (Infection Prevention and Control Outreach Nursing) team. The team is visiting various schools, selected randomly, across the State to ensure COVID-19 guidelines are being followed.
- Whilst there are no cases of COVID-19 in our area at the moment, we must still remain vigilant regarding Social Distancing, Hand Hygiene and Density Quota's.
- The front reception area should have no more than 4 adults in the area at any one time, if there are already 4 people in reception, please wait outside until someone leaves.
- Face masks are mandatory indoors until Government guidelines change
Parents are permitted and welcome on the school grounds, keeping socially distant from others, however, only staff and students are permitted in the classrooms. If for example you are attending parent teacher conferences or such then you must sign in and it would be held after school/classroom hours or in a separate office. Students and staff who are ill should not attend school until symptoms have passed. This is required for any illness. Apart from that there should be no reason for parents to enter the classrooms at this stage.
ITALIAN WEEK
DRESS UP DAY FRIDAY 18th JUNE
St Gabriel’s will be celebrating Italian day on Friday the 18th June with bocce, a dress up parade, special food and a comedy show.
Students may dress up as an Italian character or in the Italian colours of green, white and red. What a wonderful sight this is at our morning assembly!!
La Comica Variety Productions from Melbourne will be performing for Preps to Year 6 with their show called “Mangia Banane 2”-Mission Gnocchi. They will entertain the students with slap stick comedy, which will incorporate the Italian language, music and lots of fun.
This special day is where the students will be able to immerse in the Italian language and culture, appreciating other cultures as well.
Signora Angela Edey
After so many setbacks since COVID-19 hit us, Class Act Productions is finally getting on the stage with “Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang JR.” The production begins on Thursday the 17th of June with five shows to follow over the weekend. This is the 20th year for Class Act Productions who over that time have provided Gippsland youth with the wonderful opportunity to participate in theatre.
This is also the debut performance for St Gabriels own Oliver Mendez who is currently in grade 4. Oliver has grown up with theatre in his blood with his dad Michael Mendez directing at Class Act for over 15 years.
You will need to be quick to snap up some tickets as Covid has meant that ticket numbers are restricted. Hop on the facebook page or check out the website https://www.
