Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Welcome back to term 3. We trust that you had an enjoyable break after a long term 2. This term will be a much shorter one with only 9 weeks. It is a very busy term with grades 4-6 attending their respective school camps.
Right to disconnect.
As you will be aware there was a new law introduced earlier this year for employees who have the “right to disconnect” from the employer and related third parties unless the refusal is unreasonable.
In order to support this law and a healthy work life balance for our staff we have set up the following protocol.
Staff work hours in relation to communication will be Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Any communication sent to staff outside of these hours please allow up to 24 hours for a response. There may be times when staff send out a reminder over the weekend for important information or changes that you need to know prior to Monday morning. Please note where possible this will be prepared in advance and schedule sent to you.
Before/After School Care Update
As you will be aware our current provider has made the decision to end their contract with us. I am very pleased to announce that we have found a new provider and are currently in the process of finalising licensing arrangements and contracts with them.
On Monday 4th August the new company will be providing a coffee van from 3.45-5.30pm during Parent/Teacher Interviews. It will be set up in the drop off zone and staff will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
As more details come through I will be sure to update all families via email.
School Concert
Rehearsals for our school concert are now underway. Dance lessons started last Friday with STOMP and will continue for another 4 weeks. After that students will continue rehearsing in their classes with their teachers and also during Performing Arts with Mrs Williams & Miss Grumley.
As previously communicated the concert will be held on Wednesday 29th October at GPAC. Further information regarding ticket sales will be communicated in due course.

It is expected that parents support the uniform policy by ensuring children are always in correct uniform. Notes explaining incorrect uniform should be forwarded to your child’s teacher.
The sports uniform can be worn only on nominated sports days. This varies for class levels.
All shoulder length or longer hair must be fully tied back in school colored hair ties.
Students may wear earrings (studs or sleepers) and a watch.
A back-pack style bag which features the school logo is available for all children at Beleza School Uniforms.
School hats must be worn daily throughout Terms 1 and 4 to protect children from the harmful effects of the sun. Students who do not have hats at school will be required to stay in the shade.
Please be sure to label all items of clothing as items are often mislaid or wrongly claimed by other children.

St. Gabriel's Primary School is a child safe school. We are committed to embedding a culture of Child Safety, adhering to the Victorian Child Safe Standards: Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises (Ministeral Order No. 1359).
We believe that ensuring the safety of the students in our care is an integral part of who we are as a Catholic faith community. The school acts in accordance with the Ministerial Order through policies, procedures, measures and practices, staff training and, ultimately, through the strategies used in working with the students and families within our school community.
We continue to maintain and develop a safe and supportive learning environment where staff are focused on engaging students in meaningful, relevant and challenging learning experiences.
If at any time you have any issues or concerns you feel you need to raise please contact our Principal: Michelle Charlton or our Child Safety Officer: Alison Phillips 5174 5515.
