Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
I can’t believe we are almost at the halfway point of the school year. It seems to have gone very quickly.
End of term information.
Our final day for term 2 is Friday 23rd June and school will be finishing at 2pm on this day. The early buses will run from 1.50pm and all other students will be dismissed at 2pm. Term 3 will begin on Monday 10th July.
Term 3 Information
I will be taking Long Service Leave for the first 7 weeks of term 3. During this time Mrs Alison Phillips will be Acting Principal and Miss Camille Johnson will be Acting Deputy Principal. Camille will be released from her regular classroom duties on a Thursday & Friday for this period and 6 Blue will be taught by Mrs Rosato & Mrs Gallagher on these days. I will be sure to send in a picture for the newsletter of the nice sunny locations I will be visiting.
Mrs Phillips trip to Jerusalem
On Thursday 22nd June Mrs Phillips will be leaving for the trip of a lifetime to Jerusalem. She is part of a group of leaders from DOSCEL schools who were sponsored for this trip. Whilst in Jerusalem, she will be studying Mark’s Gospel and visiting holy sites. Mrs Phillips will return to school on Wednesday 12th July. We hope you have an inspiring trip and we can’t wait to hear all about it when you return.
New Admin Area
Unfortunately the handover of our new admin area did not occur as planned. We are now on schedule to move on Monday 19th June. There may be some disruptions to our phone lines and response time to emails. We will send out mobile numbers etc either later today or Friday morning. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time as there will no doubt be some teething problems.
Foundation Enrolments 2024.
We are currently taking enrolments for Foundation in 2024. If you know anyone considering St Gabriel’s please ask them to contact the office to book a tour or for an enrolment pack. If you are an existing family please get your enrolment forms asap. Please note enrolments close on 23rd June.
Wishing you all a happy and safe mid year break.
Kind Regards
Michelle
Signing children in and out of school and Absentee notifications
If your child needs to leave early, or has an appointment, then parents must sign them out and back in when they return. A note is to be supplied to the classroom teacher so that they are aware of why the child is leaving and they can then record the absence. Alternatively this can be entered as PNA via PAM.
If your child is unwell, to speed up their recovery we recommend keeping your child at home until they are fully recovered.
Absentee notifications can be entered via PAM up to seven days, if you will be away longer than this you will be required to contact the office on 5174 5515.
Please note all absentee notifications must be completed via a Parent Notified Absence in PAM prior to 9.30am. If we have not received notification you will be sent a message via SMS with regards to your student/s being absent for the day you will need to phone the admin office on 5174 5515 to advise the reason why the student is absent as this is a legal requirement.

ST GABRIEL'S CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING STATEMENT
St. Gabriel's Primary School is a child safe school. We are committed to embedding a culture of Child Safety, adhering to the Victorian Child Safe Standards: Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises (Ministeral Order No. 1359). We believe that ensuring the safety of the students in our care is an integral part of who we are as a Catholic faith community. The school acts in accordance with the Ministerial Order through policies, procedures, measures and practices, staff training and, ultimately, through the strategies used in working with the students and families within our school community. We continue to maintain and develop a safe and supportive learning environment where staff are focused on engaging students in meaningful, relevant and challenging learning experiences.
If at any time you have any issues or concerns you feel you need to raise please contact our Principal: Michelle Charlton or our Child Safety Officers: Alison Phillips or Jo Quinn on 5174 5515.
