Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
We hope you had a safe and enjoyable long weekend. Luckily there was some nice weather amongst it.
Well done to our Foundation-2 students who have just successfully completed their swimming program over the past 2 weeks. There were some very tired little faces last Thursday and I am sure they enjoyed some much needed rest over the weekend.
Unfortunately we have had to postpone our Junior Athletics Carnival which was due to be held this coming Friday 4th November due to the condition of our oval. The new date weather permitting is Friday 18th November.
Congratulations to Mrs Phillips & Mr Hogan for organising our fantastic Socktober shoot out. Once again the weather meant we had to move it inside, however all children still had a wonderful time and many goals were scored. This event also gave the children the opportunity to not only learn how soccer is played but how soccer balls can be made in countries less fortunate than Australia.
We look forward to welcoming our 2023 Foundation students next Thursday 10th November at 9.30am for the first of four transition sessions we have planned.
Our Inaugural Colour Run will be held on Friday 25th November. This event is for all students from F-6. Further details will be communicated via PAM email on Friday 4th November.
Changes for 2023
We are currently working through some changes that will be implemented in the 2023 school year in regards to bell times, book lists etc. Please keep an eye on your emails as all of this information will be coming out shortly via PAM email. We have noticed that these emails are often going to Junk/Spam in particular email accounts (particularly hotmail), please ensure you are regularly checking this folder as well so you don’t miss the information.
Kind Regards
Michelle

Prep - Yr 2 Swimming Program - Feedback
Cam Juha from the Ford Swimming Centre wanted to tell all our Prep to 2 families, how impressed he was with all the students' behaviour whilst waiting for their swimming instructors and how well they listened to their instructors whilst in the pool. Cam couldn’t believe how much the students had improved in their swimming skills over the two weeks. He wanted to thank all the staff and parents for their support and encouragement during the swimming program. He looks forward to working with the students again next year in the school swimming program. On behalf of the school I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making this a successful program. As with any program feedback it is important and Cam has asked if you think improvement can be made in any area they would be grateful for this information. Please email dhogan@stgtraralgon.catholic.edu.au and I will forward this onto Cam or call Ford Swim Centre directly.
Prep - Yr 2 Athletic Carnival - Postponed / New Date Friday 18th November
It is with great regret that the school has decided to postpone the Junior Athletic Carnival to be held this Friday the 4th of November. Due to the amount of rainfall that we have experienced over the last few weeks and with the school grounds being extremely wet we thought it would be best to reschedule this event in the near future with the school grounds hopefully being dry and students can participate in safe conditions. The school has set this new date as Friday 18th of November with a back up date of Monday 21st of November.

From there they headed over to Liverpool to watch a ladies game at Anfield between Liverpool and Everton.
The next day started with a tour of the Manchester City stadium before they headed back to London and watched the Nations League game between England and Germany at Wembley.
After a late night they had a quiet morning before Archie trained under the Dome at Watford. The next morning saw the team head to the London Stadium, home of West Ham United for a stadium tour before Archie played a game against one of the West Ham academy sides.
Day seven and the team had the chance to do some sightseeing, getting the chance to see all the famous sights of London during a guided tour of the city. The afternoon took the team back to one of the West Ham training grounds for another game against an academy side.
The following morning there was a stadium tour of Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea. The afternoon saw Archie train with the West Ham academy coaches. Their second last day saw Archie train again with the West Ham academy coaches before the team ventured back to the London Stadium to watch West Ham Vs Wolves.

Rebel Sports Store - (School Link Membership)
I would like to thank the parents in the school community who have linked their membership at Rebels sports store with St Gabriels P.S. The school this year has received just under $400 dollars to spend at Rebel Sports on sports equipment for the school. If you are thinking of spending money at Rebel Sports store and if you become a member by linking your membership to the School allows the school to earn points and purchase equipment for the school. I would like to thank you all for your support in helping our school gain extra sports equipment for students at St Gabriel’s.
