Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
It’s hard to believe we are just over the ½ way mark of term 3. This year seems to be flying by. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community for working through many of the restrictions we have had this year and for your understanding in keeping children home when they are unwell. Many staff members have also suffered illness and there are times when we have struggled to find a replacement for them. Our staff have all been working extremely hard and I thank them for their dedication to the students.
A reminder that Monday 22nd August is a Student Free Day, all staff will be participating in Professional Learning regarding the teaching of our religious education curriculum ‘To Live in Christ Jesus’.
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held on Monday 29th & Tuesday 30th August. Bookings are now open via PAM
Book Fair & Week
Our annual Book Fair began yesterday and will be running through until Friday 26th August. Parents are welcome to come in and purchase books between the times of 8.30-9am and 3.15-3.45pm. There is also the option to order via the online option. Please see the back of your child’s wish list or the photo below for online details.
We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 7 with our dress up day to be held on Tuesday 23rd August. The theme for 2022 is “Dreaming with Eyes Open” and winning books will be announced to the media on August 19th . Students are not required to dress according to the theme but are encouraged to dress up as a character from a favourite book. We will hold a Parade on Tuesday morning at 9am which parents are welcome to attend. Weather permitting it will be in the courtyard otherwise it will be in the Hall. Please note you will be required to sign in at the front office.
Kind Regards
Michelle

The girls have also made it through to compete in the Hooptime Competition to be held on Thursday October 20th. However Hooptime is finding it difficult to find basketball referees at the moment and this competition is in jeopardy of being cancelled. Also please see photos attached Please read the note below.
Hooptime Basketball - Call for Referees / Parent Helpers!
Basketball referee numbers are currently 40% down statewide since the COVID-19 pandemic started, this is being reflected in referees we can get to day time events. Our referee department is really struggling to get people on court. I've done my best to support the team by contacting Schools for parent helpers and contacting associations for assistance.
It has reached the point where cancelling Hoop Time Days has become a real possibility and the next step to the current situation.
Below is a link to a registration form for both parent helpers and qualified referees to help - qualified referees will be reimbursed $120 and parent helpers $100. Each helper will be supplied with a hand whistle and covered by Basketball Victoria insurance.
St Gabriel’s Girls team is set to play on Thursday 20th October so any parent / referee helpers are encouraged to sign up for that date and any others they would be happy to support.
We are at the stage where Hoop Time cannot continue in 2022 without the help of School communities.
